How can you tell if your fuel pump is going bad
yeah im having trouble with my bike and i think its because the fuel pump is going bad. When i turn the key on just to turn the lights on i hear this weird sound for like 2 seconds well when i turn the bikes lights on and touch the fuel pump i can feel it vibrate with the noise. could that be a sign why my bike is running so rough at 5000 rpm and below and surges about 100 rpm while its idiling????? Please help

No that is ur Fuel Injection priming, if you dont hear that you have a problem, normally if your fuel pump is goin bad it goes bad. if its interminittent its usually only for a little while then totally goes. i would make sure your air cleaner is nice and clean, and then maybe check your fuel lines.

yep. i replaced a fuel pump after a short. when pumps go out, they generaly just stop working. no intermitance. i had a big fuel issue a while back and found a leak in one of the t-joints at the fuel rail. prior to finding that leak, it just wasn't delivering fuel. if you hear it whining, its working. also check your filter to see if its clogged. if you really want to be sure... just pull the hose that leads into the rail and turn the bike on, if it spits fuel all over ya.. it works.
