alright i just got my carbs pulled off to check my valve adjustment and as i looked into my ports where i pulled the carbs off i see the bottom of my valves and they look gummed up almost like tar , should i be worried about this before i adjust the valves or should i do all this work and put seafoam in the tank, will this take care of this???

 

If they are as bad as you say then you should pull the head and clean them thoroughly. Then check them for leaks, they will probably need to be lapped. Then I would measure valve clearances.
