Is there a different between a gas tank and a gas tank cover? If so, what is it? Also, I have a 2000 CBR F4, and am looking for a gas tank/gas tank cover whatever. Basically I have a gas tank on the bike right nwo from the factory, but I want a diff color. My bike is crea white all over right now, and I just bought some stock red and black fairings. Anyways, can I use a gas tank/tank cover form an F4i? I just want it to be red and black, and not have to paint. It looks like it would match up. I dont know...any ideas?

 

The 99-00 F4 and 01-03 F4i used two different shades of red. The F4 uses an italian red and the F4i uses winning red. If you are gonna purchase a new tank, you would want to find out what year the fairings came from and order the tank to match them. One thing to note is that an f4i tank has the fuel pump in the tank instead of the one mounted on the subframe like the F4 so you would have to deal with that also. It might be a cheaper route to just paint the tank if it doesn't have alot of damage on it or you could also replace the red stripes on the fairings with the correct color on them if needed. Also, the F4/F4I have a one piece metal gas tank as compared to a 600rr which has a seperate gas tank with a plastic cover over it.
