Default fuel woes

Hey all, i've got a fuel problem. I was on the interstate today, just cruising around, and my bike starts to die, like its not getting enough fuel. i could tell this because i've left the fuel switch off once or twice. lol, but anyways, it happens, i pull off on an off ramp, coasting, and i start the bike back up, and it runs fine. Two miles down the road, i'm taking a right into the middle of nowhere, and my bike dies, again. soi coast along try to start it once or twice, and it doesn't want to run, it'll start and sputter out rather quickly. so i'm there in a parking lot, around an industrial park, and theres no one around, being sunday and all. so some guy with a HD sticker on his car stops to help me out. we pushed my bike about two miles to the gas station. where i wait for like three hours for a tow truck. during this time i bought alot of the tools the gas station had instock, an adjustable wrench, flat head, and phillips head. i check my petcock on my tank, its on, and i check my gas, i have a half tank. so i call HRCA, they hook me up with a tow truck guy, i get towed home, and here i am, stumped and out of a few bucks, but plus a few tools.
i have gas
i haven't checked the magical electricity running to the fuel pump, my fuel filter is relativly new, i think my battery is like 2 yo, and i really want to ride.
any help would be appreciated!! lol

It's possible you have some rust or other gunk in the tank that's clogging the fuel filter. I had that on my F3, and had to drain the tank, swish some acetone around in it to clean it up, and replace the fuel filter.

Do you know if your pump is running or not? Check the fuse on it to. If the pump is not working, gravity will sometimes pull fuel through it at a reduced rate so after a few mins it might run for a minute or two then conk out again.

My Fuel Pump went out on me, had similar symptoms,
You can catch one on ebay for cheap and they are not hard to install.

May not be your problem but sounds familiar.
Good luck
