What gear, first? Dropping out of gear problems caused by either bad shift fork (for your sake hopefully that's what it is) or a rounded of gear in the tranny. Do you whoop on it pretty hard in first? Too many throttle blip wheelies in first= hard on gears.

unfortunately a bent shift fork is likely your culprit. I bought my 2000 F4 last summer and it had 22800 on it and my 2nd gear slips out whenever i give it even a slightly moderate throttle. Like its been said, its usually caused by the previous owners beating on the bike and doing power wheelies. Pretty expensive fix because the whole motor has to come off the bike to fix it (or so ive been told)

Mine has slipped out of 2nd into neutral twice since I bought it two months ago, but I'm pretty sure it's just from lazy shifting. I have a tendency to not shift as hard as I should so it probly just wasn't properly engaged.
