Default F4I Ignition install

Hello all,

Not sure if this has been done before but I'm trying to install what I think is an F4i Ignition switch on my F4. I recently purchased a new igntion and gas cap combo from Amazon because my stock ignition was having problems turning. When the ignition came in it had three wires instead of four like the OEM ignition. Ive tested all of the OEM wires and the one that I'm confused about is the pink wire... The new three wire ignition has a Red/black, blue/org, and a black wire... When Ohm'ed out, while the key is turned to the on pos, all three wires technically connected (sorry for the poor explanation). This is very similar to the way three out of the four wires on the OEM ignition is setup, specifically the red, red/blk, and the blu/org... which leaves the pink wire... I'm lost if you cant tell, and I don't want to miss any riding days; so I ask, has anyone ran into this problem or have completed this before? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The pink wire is for the security system. There is a resistor on the bottom of the oem switch that drops the voltage to 9V to tell the ecu that the ignition is not bypassed.

Is it possible to separate and use the oem electrical switch with the replacement key and tumbler?

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for the assistance. No, I wish I could... That would make everything a whole lot easier. What I tried to do is use a resistor to drop the voltage down but Ohm's law isnt working for me. LOL That pink wire, on the OEM ignition switch, is reading 8.3v when the bike isn't running; once the bike is running the wire reads 9v like you mentioned. I'm out of ideas and really want this ignition to work. In the mean time I've had the OEM ignition repaired and is is working flawlessly... But I want to get the new one to work.. ;-(
