Hi all,

I bought a '99 F4 for track duty a while back and I'm trying to figure out what race tail(s) might fit it. It has a Hot Bodies front fairing but when I go to the Hot Bodies site there is no listing for a race tail for the F4. Does anyone know if the race tail for the F4i will fit? Any other suggestions? I'm looking for something with a single seat (pad is fine) - this is a track only bike. It seems like most places no longer list a lot of stuff for the F4 - F4i seems to be as far back as they go these days. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

p.s, if anyone has a race tail for an F4 they would like to sell I might be interested.

Of course... anything can be made to fit, but I'd be willing to be that it is designed to mount to the stepped seat 01-03 subframe.. you can buy that and bolt it on your F4.. or (since it is a race unit) try to modify it to fit our single seat subframes.. since its the same as 04-06 F4is.. Did you contact Hotbodies for the helluvit?

Yep. That's the one. I did send an email to Hot Bodies, but I haven't gotten a response. Is the stepped seat subframe a bolt-on? Not concerned about lights, etc. since this is purely a track bike.

Welcome aboard.

When I decided to track my '00 F4, I wasn't satisfied w/ the banana seat set-up. I did the split-seat conversion...('01-'03 subframe/seats/battery tray) & haven't looked back. Sure, there's an initial expense for getting the required parts but its basically an easy swap. I relocated my ECU & rectifier but otherwise, was a simple job. Plus, its just easier getting race plastic for the F4i split-seat tail, as you've discovered.

I've been keeping my eyes out for F4 race plastics for a long time now.

 

Thanks for the info and the welcome. I've been looking for an '01-03 setup but haven't found one. Sharkskinz also makes a tail setup for the F4 but it's a quite a bit more expensive than the Hot Bodies stuff. Looking forward to tracking this bike - it's my fourth CBR but the first one I'll take to the track.

Are there no replacement race tails for the newer F4i's with the banana seat? Would those not just bolt right up?

I heard back from Hot Bodies and, unfortunately, the F4i tail they make won't fit the F4 and they don't make one for the F4. The search for an F4 race tail continues.

 

im also looking to replace my seat to a single and replace the banana seat. dont know too much about where to buy parts for my f4
