So I have been going nuts not riding.. only 4 months left of winter so I was not sure if I wanted to sell my f4? I meen I like the way it rides but it was not the bike I wanted when I walked into the dealer... They had a sweet RC51 but the sales rep said he would not sell it to me because he thought I would be dead in a week.. so I bought the f4, lowered and with jumbo flashers, i changs the flashers put on a targa anda danmoto exhaust (youtube the pipe, sounds good). I made the dumb mistake of spending 60$ on colour matching paint and repainted the left/right cowl, too bad I left the paint in the car when it was +30 outside... think it boiled the paint or something because when I painted the cowl's the paint came out like rockerguard and has a sand paper look to it... So, what do I do?? I was thinking of selling it as seen on kijiji montreal or I thought about getting some china side cowl's and lowering the bike again and chroming the frame and wheels with maybe a extended swingarm. Oh and here in Montreal Canada the gouverment likes to tax us on everything, we have to pay a luxuary tax if our car cost more then 40 thousand... I have to pay $1500 to plate my cbr and to ride for only 6 months and on our crapy roads (worst roads in canada). Was thinking of selling the rear targa cowl. I ride rain or shine, any thoughts on what I should do?

 

not sure if you knew this.. but the red on the cowl sides is a decal... you didnt have to paint them unless you wanted a totally red look..

I am not a fan of polished frames and extended swingarms.. I think the bike looks good the way it is (minus the red screen)

 

The side fairings on his bike are black, the wings that were red was the decal.

If you are thinking of selling the bike I wouldnt extend the swingarm or polish the frame. I would just get a smoked windscreen and be done with it.

 

You didn't say what your riding experience was prior to purchasing a bike. However, if you didn't have experience, I'd say the dealer not selling you the RC51 was a good idea. As an owner of an RC51, I can tell ya its not a bike to be taken lightly. Not that the F4 is any slouch, but its a lot more forgiving than an RC51. As an owner of both, I love the way they both ride. My F4 is my 'flickable' fun bike & my RC51 is my dominator. ;-)

 

I knew about the side fairings being black, I just didnt want to pay for 100 dollars for some red stickers, instead I payed 60 bucks and ruined my bike....sigh. Yeah I never liked the red wind screen. I got my licence in 99, but have only had 3 bikes... I find the cbr feels like a bicycle, I'm starting to feel too cocky on it. Now just for peoples information I dont do anything crazy on my bike like wheelies or anything, I slipped 3 disks in my back once and could not walk for a year and still have a permanent injury ( funny I can remember my friend coming over with her cbr and me walking with my cane and getting on my street fighter gsx, starting it in the driveway and that was it... I was gone :P ). Would have treated the RC with respect, but I know the cbr was the better deal, 2800 bucks with 15,000km (9320miles)... Anyways, what do you guys think of that 3M carbon fiber wrap? Maybe wrap the bike with it? BIG BUCKS to do it.. Or maybe I should order the 500 dollar fairing kits on ebay and just keep the two side fairings?? If I ordered the f4i body would the side fairings fit?? Might be easier to sell the f4i body parts.

 

Just got this Saturday. I just bought some Bridgestone battleaxes for it as seeing the tires were crap. It needs some tlc but I believe I can make it my own.

Thanks. I have always wanted a cbr 600 I'm pretty excited to get to know the beast. Since it already has the erion exhaust I'm getting a K&N filter and some Bridgestone Battleax BT-023 tires. You guys have some suggestions???
