F4 99 Key and HISS probelm
Hi Guys, last night i lost my bike key, and in the morning, when i trieed to start it with spare key(which is bike's orig key by honda), Bike just crank, but it wont start, i know there is this security feature HISS or immobilizerand bike key have to be coded, otherwise bike wont start, but the spare key i am using, is orig key of bike and i believe it is coded for this bike, but the bike just wont start....
just need to check with you huys, there is a green light on the pannel near Temp guage, if your key is correct(means correct code key) it suppose to stay green, or the light should go off if the key is correct?
i cannot remember that with previous key, light use to stay green, or it go off...
Any one can tell me How to know that my key is correct with correct code? any thing else besides bike not starting, to know that key is correct or not? when is on the ignition, can hear the fuel pump. talking about F4 1999.
any one can help?

RE: F4 99 Key and HISS probelm
i am from Singapore, all 1999 model CBR F4 have HISS(Honda Ignition System Security). If you dont use the special coded key for the bike, it will crank but wont start. if you lose keys, and you dont have any working key to start the bike, you have to buy new ECU or ICM or CDI, what ever you call it.
In american model, they is no such thing like HISS, so i was thinking to buy an American ICM/ECU and install on my bike, and dont use this HISS feature anymore(i dont need it).
So if any kind soul with a US bike (cbr F4 1999) could list the wire colours going into their ECU and take a photo of the connectors.
I assume the instrument clusters would be the same.
So any one can help?

RE: F4 99 Key and HISS probelm
Hi there. On my cbr fx the green light stays on for about 3 seconds then goes off. If you don't find your master key then I think your other key won't be able to get programed. A few months back my hiss thingy packed in (the green light didn't appear at all) and like you said the bike will crank but didn't start, i had to replace the CDI unit which was very expensive, about 400 pound. Do you have any other keys apart from the one that doesn't work?
