Why would you want to do that?
If you are going for louder why not just cut it down?

I would assume it would cause some problems long term but not really sure on the short term.

well, i chopped my jardine into a major shorty.. and then decided to repack it with different materials, and try out different internal pipes in it.. needless to say, i made it sound amazing, but i lost LOTS of power in the mid to upper rpms.. waiting on my new muffler to arive on wednesday now... if anything i would not pull the packing, but i would just cut it down a little. take off a couple inches, see how you like it, and then from there, take off an inch at a time till you get what you like. but i would recomend not going any shorter than about 2/3 of its original legnth. thats my opinion
