Default electrical woes...

Just got a new regulator and battery installed, along with a xentec hid kit. Everything checks out fine. Charging v = 14.5 idle is about 13.7. Took it out for a ride and was running great. Died in front of the baseball stadium on game night . Bump started it and got it home. My fan was on quite a bit due to getting stuck in the traffic from the game. After getting it home a freshly topped off battery was at 12.2v. I've gone through 2 batteries and a rectifier this season. I haven't tested the stator all the way but impeadance between the wires is .3-.4 ohms I've been having this electrical problem since before my f4i conversion so I don't think that is the problem. Is the stator shot?

I was having the same problem, finally tracked it down the the circuit for the spark plug coils/fuel pump - it couldn't get enough power. I'm working on making a relay circuit to feed power to that circuit directly from the battery. I made a temp jumper and I haven't had a problem in a couple weeks and it's been over 95 deg every day. Even when the fan kicks on and stuff it doesn't miss a beat.

there is an easy way to see if yours is doing the same thing - when the bike is hot, check the voltage on either of the black/white wires on the fuel pump relay - if its 11v or lower and drops down below 9v when the pump activates you have the same problem. I even had 13v at the battery and it was dropping to 7v on that circuit. Also, check the connector between your stator and your rectifier (the one down at the motor) mine melted and was shorting out - wasn't getting good voltage to the bike from it.
