Default Does this sound like CCTL? Vid inside..

My 2000 CBR600F4 has developed a rattle.. and it happens between 5 and 6000 rpm.. that leads me to believe it is the CCTL.. much like many on here...

Here is a vid I just made.. tough to really hear on vid.. but anyway,...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j1wNh_zMRk

It happens at that rpm regardless of gear, clutch in or out..

you can hear it in the video at 0.16, 0:21, 0:38, and 0:42... its not horrible, but if it is the CCTL, I need to replace it. Does it sound like it?

Local shop quoted me $65 for the part and $80 to install.. what do you think? that's pretty fair considering the writeups I have seen show it to be a nightmare....

Yeah, i'd replace it. how mechanically inclined are you? It's not a hard part to replace, just a pain if you have big hands.

Im very mechanically inclined... but yeah big hands are a pitfa... for $80 in labor I'll let the bike shop do it.. the price they are charging for the CCTL itself is only $5 more than Ron Ayers gets too...

I brought the bike to the shop today.. they confirmed it.. its not 'that' bad.. but Id rather just replace it now....

80 bucks is a good deal to swap it out, I just put a manuel cct in mine... and honestly... it sucked pretty bad to do it... esp as I was working with all 3/8" rachet stuff... it was a good solid hour's worth of work. Would I do it again... sure... as I have more time then money

and yes, it does sound like the cct, do you get slight vibrations through clipons? mine was horrible...

I checked the service manual, and aside from working in a tight space it doesnt seem bad..... oh well.. hate to spend money but it should be done.. also sticking with the OEM stuff instead of the APE.. just want to set it and forget it.. ya know...

My experience is all cars.. I have taken apart and put back together quite a few... getting the hang of the bike stuff though.. I was going to tackle it myself, but its tough to find time to wrench with family stuff.. easier to bring it in.. wait an hour and then leave... and for $80 in labor I dont feel so bad.

it's really not that bad of a job. If ya have a couple hours to do it, the tools to do it.... knock it out...! I think I seem the oem one for like 50 bucks online somewhere too...
