Question Dim the Lights!

I've got led tail/brake lights and separate led signals. I have resistors in the signal light circuits which work well to control the flash rate.

The issue is with the brightness of the tail/brakelights. The tail lights are fairly bright on their own, which is great for increased visibility, but the difference between the tail lights and brake lights isn't that great. I want to just dim the tail lights a bit so when the brake light comes on it's more obvious. I should be able to just put a resistor across the tail light circuit, right?
