Well since I'm lazy here is a link to the instructions I originally read.
SHORTY EXHAUST MOD... - SoFlaSportbikes.com - South Florida's Sportbike Community
Mine was a bit different not much. My inside core piece was all one piece and was flared at the inlet side. I took it all the way out and cut it from the other side since it wasn't flared.
To do my finish cut I used a metal devil saw, If you can find someone with one use it. It produces a perfect cut with no burs.
Tools needed
Saw: Chop, sawsall, hack saw, dremel whatever you can get your hands on. Oh you could use a wood miter saw, just get an old blade and flip it around so the teeth cut backwards.
Drill with proper bit for your size rivets.
Rivet gun and rivets.
Vice
Rubber malet or hammer and wood blocks
Just remember no two brands are the same.
