Got_the_bug - I haven't removed the panels yet. Here is the gap in the dash.

Sure thing. I just wanted to mention what I said b/c I've seen too many bike owners file claims for seemingly simple fairing damage, only to end up getting into the 'total' situation w/ their ins. Once the ins co has done its paperwork, there's no going back. Just wanted you to be aware. ;-)

Upper cowl from ronayers.com is $492.58 pre-shipping / tax.

Tell the DH no beer till he pays it off. If he's anything like me... week, tops

Well I talked to insurance agent and he is sending out an adjuster. I told him of the concerns of totalling the bike out and that I didn't want that done. He stated that when the adjuster came out and if he deemed it totalled I could then make the decision not to turn in the claim and pay for the damages myself.

Default Insurance

Well the adjuster was here and I will say I am very pleased with Progressive Insurance. He did not total the bike but was very meticulous and the total damages were $2,390.57 . He found little nicks and damages were I even missed like the brake handle - inner cowl had a stress mark - foot pegs etc. He noted the side fairings being painted instead of replaced which saved the bike from be totalled out.

This was exactly why I suggested just paying out of pocket. ;-)

If you have any more claims, you are likely to have it totaled.

Anyway, hope things work out for you.

Try Hondapartsnation.com for your replacement parts if you want new original color.Ebay is a good option but make sure the piece(s) your buying come with all the clips & inserts you will need to mount other pieces to. I bought a used upper cowl for $175 but it was missing the threaded inserts that you need to bolt the instrument cluster and interior panels to. I got them but it was a serious hassel because Honda does NOT sell them.Be careful on Ebay.

Default Update!

Update: Got my bike fixed along with new tires it looked great - I orginally had the bike lowered 3 inches and had them raise it back up to only being lowered 1 inch.

2 days later my son decided to take it out not paying attention to me that the tires are still slick and not broke in...can you guess where this is going??? Yep, your right he low sided it and tore up the left side. It was in town so he was only going about 20mph around a corner and when he gave it a little too much throttle the back end slid. He paid for all the repairs himself and luckily did not get hurt just a little road rash on his left knee. Thank god he wore my helmet! The bike is all back to normal again.

So new rule for my bike - "Anyone in the household with a pe*is is not allowed to touch it!"

Oh by the way I did get the parts from Hondapartsnation.com - they were extremely cheaper than local dealer.

So you're the only female in the house?
