Default DH wrecked my bike w/o riding it!!!

Uggghhh...DH was trying to be a sweetheart and wax my bike. Tipped it over and cracked the front fairing all the way to the light - right side fairing cracked and scratched - scratched the tank - Exhaust scratched and dented.

Well do I get the original orange/black or make it a whole new color???

Okay took some pics the side fairing is not cracked but scratched and that I can live with those. The only thing that concerns me is the front and the dash has shifted slightly but hopefully once the fairing is fixed we can fix that as well since two bolts were sheared off at impact.

Ouch. Keep it the same color imo. No sense changing the whole bike when you can just replace the front fairing. I can't help but wonder what DH is. I shouldn't post the things I came up with

Lol trust me I came up with a few of those myself and a few other choice names for him. He was smart though and called my son (who was at work with me) to "break" the news to me and he knew I would have time to cool off since I didn't get home until 5 hours later.

I am gonna keep it the same color since the side fairing isn't cracked as I originally thought.

Does anyone know of where to order just the front fairing from?

If you want factory pieces you will need to look on ebay, our classifieds, or get them from the honda dealer. Maybe somewhere online you can find a OEM part retailer that can get them.

There are many sources for aftermarket if you want to go that route. There are reviews of companies and products on our forum you should read before you make a decision.

Called my local honda dealer and holy **** the upper cowl is $650.00 not including labor. I did notice too that the front fork when you press down is now making a clicking sound as well - I checked my daughters bike and her's doesn't make that sound. So I guess I am gonna have to submit claim on the insurance.

IF you submit a claim, be prepared for the ins co to 'total' the bike & then offer to let you buy it back from them w/a salvaged title. I highly recommend that you do NOT do this unless you are prepared to accept that situation. Just pay out of pocket to make the repairs... Your bike will retain its clear title & higher value that entails.

Check w/ Delkevic or our forum sponsor, Motorcyclefairingsrus.com, for options.

I second the thought that it's not a good idea to submit a claim through insurance for this.

Yipes, it took quite a smack to that upper cowl. The dealer pretty much quoted you full retail on the part...there are cheaper ways to get it...as others have already mentioned, eBay, forum sponsors, other web Honda OEM parts sources. Still not cheap, but significantly better than that price.

Regarding the clicking sound the forks are making, I'd be surprised if they were damaged just by the bike falling over. Considering the damage to the cowl, there are other things that could be rubbing against the forks when they are compressed...the fairing stay could have been bent or there could be a piece of other plastic contacting the fork tube...I wouldn't despair until you got a good look. Have you removed the panels on the left and right side of the cowl yet?
