Default Crazy weekend

Hey guys im not on here as often with work and all but i just wanted to share a couple of things. First of all this weekend i learned that license plate brackets on the chain side of the swing arm can be a very bad idea. I was riding with my motorcycle group (Cincy Ruff Ryders) up to canton Ohio when my license plate bracket somehow came into contact with my chain and caused it to break at the master link and shoot the chain clear off of my bike. Luckily i was just pulling off of the shoulder on the highway because we had stopped for another member. Anyway the Canto chapter brought me a master link so i can ride it to a shop to make sure the link would hold. Im glad that im alive and i will be moving my swingarm bracket to the other side. Is this a common issue? Like the bracket was bent like someone kicked it, and i had already rode 200+ miles with no problems. Also the bracket had been on there for about 2 months already.

Another crazy thing that happened was one of our road captains got hit by a truck on purpose and dragged his 1000f down the highway under the truck. He was blocking one lane to make sure that the 20+ motorcycle entering the highway were safe and one guy wanted to be a dumbass and hits him then backs up and runs him back over, luckily he jumped off the bike after the first hit. Crazy weekend. Be careful out there this riding season.

Glad you are no worse for wear! Chains breaking at rpm can be extremely dangerous. I've seen one come apart at speed & rip thru leathers & half way thru a racing boot...not pretty!

Sorry about your friend's experience. It is def that time of year!

wow... glad nobody is hurt! and as for the bracket.. did you happen to take any hard corners that may have allowed the bracket to come in contact with anything? or did you or another rider maybe hit it when you were pulled over?

Well upon further investigation i noticed that there was no way that the bracket could have hit my chain. So that means the masterlink (that clip on type) broke and the chain slung off and wrapped up on the bracket thus saving me from losing a foot. Also i noticed my rear sprocket has a chipped tooth from the chain flying off so im buying a new chain. Are there any that you buy that have the master links that you have to put on with a riveting tool and not that clip crap? Im trying to get a red chain size 520

neither the bikemaster or DID chains that i bought had clip on style links.. im still using the bikemaster right now while im testing out different sprocket sizes, but then i will switch to the DID. the bikemaster seems to be holding up nice for its amazingly low price, but i hear they dont last as long. thats why im just using it till i figure out what sprockets i like best.
