Exclamation Changing Tyres

I have a year old tyres on my bike. They have around 5000 miles on them. And Iam thinking of replacing them. Because the rear tyre has cracks on the sides. My question is, should i be worried about these cracks or not? And how many miles tyres can withstand? I havent changed the tyres since i got it btw.

No, don't worry about the cracks... Of course it depends how large the cracks are... But as you said it's time to change the rear tyre...

*YES* do be worried about the cracks. Its dryrot & weakens the structural integrity of the tire. Change the tire(s).

1 yr old tires usually don't crack. I'd check the date that the tire was made because chances are good that it's several yrs old. Cracks are always bad, tho. I wouldn't trust a cracked up tire.
Mileage doesn't mean much at all because compounds are so different between the different tires. It's all about the age, the amount of tread left, if they are cupping bad, if they're dry/cracked, etc.
I'll kill a set of qualifiers in 3-4k, while a set of Road 2s would have plenty of life left.

Get new tires dude, you dont want to be on 6 year old tires that are dry rotted...in a car is one thing but on a bike you blow a tire its probably going to make you wreck. Tires vary, some will go 10k miles some I have heard last 3k....I had dunlop qualifiers and I got roughly 6k miles on them before i replaced, the bridgestone set I had lasted 8k
