Default Changing Coolant question

I'm getting ready to change the coolant on my '00 CBR F4. The service manual instructs to take off the right air intake duct. Is this necessary? I assume the reason for it may have something to do with bleeding air from the system, but wasn't sure. It also instructs to take the radiator off while leaving the hoses connected. I am hoping I can leave the radiator and air intake duct in place. Thanks in advance.

The radiator cap sits right underneath the intake duct, and in order to properly flush the system, you must gain access to it. Although I found it unnecessary to remove the duct, I did end up having to remove the upper cowl. Didn't see the need to remove the radiator though... ? Empty the system, then just fill it up with tap water (garden hose) and drain it out the water pump hose. Do that until it comes out clear (like 20 times).

Here's the radiator filler neck under the duct w/o the upper. The duct lifts easily out of the way.

It doesn't hurt to flush it a coulple of times with distilled water at the end of the flush once it's coming out clean, but definitely make sure to use distilled water for your final fill.
Oh, and just to make things clear. Reattach the water pump hose (loosely), fill it with water, then disconnect it to flush out the liquid; repeat until it's clear, lol.

I have a '00 & haven't ever had to remove the air duct. I remove the R lower cowl & have at it.
