Default chain/sprocket?

Hey guys, Im about to buy a new chain and sprocket kit for my 2001 F4i. I want to drop a tooth on the front sprocket and Ill get the speedohealer to adjust the mph. But I was wondering if there was any difference in an aluminumor steel sprocket (as for as performance and longevity)? Also do ya'll recommend any particular brand over another. I was lookin at the RK chain and sprocket kits, Thanks!

RK is a good brand, imho. I run the 520 conversion (as well as alot of other people here), Rk XSOring chain which has a tinsel strength of over 1760 psf which is more than adequate for our bikes. The chain is strong enough for 750's, but if you got into heavy engine mods, you might need to step up to a 525/530. I also run Vortex sprockets, (-1/+2) I love how snappy it got after that, The front isa drilled out steel unit while the rear is aluminum. I think the aluminum rear is a good choise as long as its' design is self cleaning, of course aluminum is not as strong as steel, but the bennifits of less recipricating mass (and nicer designs too)always out-weight that. Just remember, as with any thing on your bike, keepthings clean, lubricated/greased and tight and it'll will have a long wear life.

I would say the very small benifit of the less mass of the aluminium will never out weigh how fast you are goig to have to replace the sprocket. I have had both aluminium and steel on my bike and aluminium will never be abck on there. You will never notic the little bit of acceleration you get from the alum. but you will feel the hit in your pocket when you are replacing the sprocket as soon as 3000 miles.
