Question CBR600FY Ignition Switch

CBR600 FY (Year 2000). Does anyone know how much current the cooling fan draws or what the wattage is ? The fuse is 10A but the current draw would be less. The reason I am asking is that I have just fitted a replacement ignition switch from China. The old switch was a 3 wire one. The new switch is a 4 wire one but it it only seems to switch Battery +ve to Ignition on two of the wires. The other two wires don't seem to be controlled by the switch. I am wondering whether I could just connect the Fan wire to the Ignition wire and let the one switch control both ?

honestly, I would send the switch back and try to find the correct one. I know that's a hassle, but its more of a hassle to cobble it together, do it wrong, and deal with issues later.

Default Ignition Switch

The Ignition Switch took three weeks to get here so I won't be sending it back.
I would welcome any views on switching ignition and fan with the one Switch. That's how it's done in the original Switch only with two separate contacts one for ignition and one for fan. If the total load is OK for the one contact and the wiring I'm happy to do it that way.
Any other thoughts ?

im sorry, I misunderstood what you got and what you had. I thought you went from a 4 wire to a 3 wire, not the other way around. a year 2000 SHOULD have been a 4 wire from the factory. do you have pictures of your old one and new one? or at the very least describe wire colors on both? the 3 wire was used on the CBR600F3 but that would have only been up to the 1998 model year.

The old original switch was 3 wire. Red (battery +ve), Red/Black (ignition) and Blue/Orange (fan). The original switch merely connected the Red to the other two. The new switch is 4 wire (Red, Black, Black/White and Green. When switched on it merely connects Red to Black. It doesn't seem to have any effect on Black/White and Green. So I am thinking that I will merely connect Red to the incoming Red battery +ve and the Black to the Red/Black and the Blue/Orange wires that go to the ignition and fan.
My concern is the short length of Black wire before it connects to old Red/Black and Blue/Orange. It will be taking ignition current and fan current (when running). I have had the bike for 20 years and the fan has only operated on 3 occasions in traffic when the weather is very very hot. So I am not overly worried but would just like to know what the loadings on the two circuits (ignition and fan) is in case it could be an issue.

Did you get one of these switches?

How's it compare to original switch?

You need to pull out meter and measure resistance between all combinations of any two wires and develop state diagram of how wires are connected internally in each switch position. Like this for factory switch which does a 1-to-2 connection, which is kinda unusual.

Fill this out for your switch.

We might be able to just de-pin terminals in new switch connector and re-insert them in proper position to work.

Default My switch is the one in the top picture.

Thanks a million for your reply. My new switch is the one in the top picture ie the one with it's connector showing. Do you happen to know how that switch should function in the ON position ie which wires does it connect to which ? Mine certainly connects red wire to black wire but seemingly nothing else.
I need it to connect the red wire (+ve) to the black wire (ignition) AND the black/white wire (fan).
As said in my post if necessary I will modify the switch loom by splicing the black/white wire to the black in the loom if I have to. I'm OK with that except that I have a concern over the short piece of wire then carrying ignition AND fan current. It may be OK but just need to check.
