CBR F4 2000 dies on idle???
Sup Guys, I'm new to this forum and also new to the bike world. I just purchased my first bike CBR600 F4 2000 model w/ 18,000+ miles on it. It's a salvaged title bike, been downed at low speed (fairing damage) but runs great. The previous owner had receipts of all maintanace done to the bike and recently had the carbs cleaned. My problem is that after the bike is warmed up and running at idle and even when I have the clutch down and in first gear the bike dies. Happens a lot when I'm at long stop lights, I just want to get your guys opinion before I take her to the Honda dealer. I'm sorry if this is a noob question and I tried to use the SEARCH option so please don't flame me. All your guys help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

RE: CBR F4 2000 dies on idle???
On a used bike with that many miles, pull the tank and airbox off and check the plugs, wires and ignition coil contacts...could be the idle, or you could have a small short that is only noticeable when the ignition is working less. (like in a parked position) If theres some knocking or grinding in the crank area, you may have bearing issues. But if it starts easily, it shouldn't be the main bearings, which can cause poor running at low speed. To me, it sounds like ignition problems...not enough spark.
I'd replace the plugs for good measure. Don't forget to gap them properly.

RE: CBR F4 2000 dies on idle???
Dies on idle right after starting from a cold start could mean a few different things....such as the engine just hasn't gotten its **** together yet. If it had been running for a while and is hot, then dies on idle, I think maybe idle screws or jets in the carbs are what need to be changed. So the easiest and cheapest way to knock out at least a few options here is to clean out the carbs until those ***** ****as shiiinnnnneeeeeee. Disassemble the innards completely and find every little piece of gunk in there to get rid of. That should help get things moving.
