Default carb vaccume line?

Ok so I bought a f4 about a month ago and I have been doing service checks on the bike. I noticed that the vaccume lines from the carb to the air box was disconnected and pluged up with a screw.

Why would the previous owner do this? Is thier a significant gain on doing this or somthing else? I'm new to carb type bikes my first bike was fuel injected. Need help with this info.

Right now the bike is running good other than a idle speed jumps up and down about 100-200 rpms and I have to adjust it every so often at a red light.

Thanks.

Sounds like a PAIR MOD. Do a little reading on that & you'll have your answers.

Ok so far I have found that the this mod helps with better throttle response resulting in better acceloration. Removes the cold air that goes into the exhuast which is ment for EPA reasons. Thats all the info I have been abule to find. I think I am still missing some info on this but any other info will be great.

Next step is that I have to make sure that the bike has the block off plates put in. Which I bet they do but I must look and find out my self. Any help on where to find the valves and how the plats should look would be of grat help.

thanks

P.S I know my grammer sucks lol.

Hey.

Your bike is blocked of correctly. If it was done wrong it wouldn't run properly over 50km/h. Also it wouldn't response properly when you turn the throttle.

Only thing I don't like with the pair mod, if they removed the vacuum hoses completly and blocked with screws. It's not easy to syncronize the carbs this way and you risk ruining the holes every time you have to screw the screws in and out.

On a road bike it's properly not a bike deal, but on a racebike it sucks!

Thanks for that info denfros. Oh and the hoses are still connected to the crabs. They put the screws on the end of the hoses not the crabs themselves.

Thanks again.
