Default Carb rebuild kit

Hi guys, due to my bike being laid up under a cover in the back garden over our great british winter i have a lot of re-commissioning work to do. my wife and daughter bought me an ultrasonic cleaner for christmas so i thought best place to start would be the carbs!
I ordered a rebuild kit off ebay for my bike (entering model, year ect) i was told it was the correct kit for my bike so i commenced the stripdown. When i came to rebuild my nice shiny carbs i found out the only bits of this kit to fit my bike were the caskets and a couple of o rings! no problem i thought as i had kept all of the old jets etc so i cleaned them out and refitted them, came to put them back together to find that just 1 of my float valves missing - the ones in the kits are too big and now i find myself totally screwed due to 1 little piece of the puzzle that seems to have just vanished (i kept all the components together in containers according to the actual carb it came fro so they didn't get mixed up) it seems i have a mechanically minded spirit in my house who knew just how to completely ruin my day in such a simple way! Honda are their usual helpful selves in informing me i have no chance of replacement as they discontinued spares for my bike probably before their adolescent parts guy was even born so, after a lot of ranting, raving, kicking next doors cat i remembered i joined this excellent forum so i'm hoping and praying that you guys can throw me a lifeline and hopefully let me know where i can get either the float valve separately or a correct rebuild kit for my carbs the bike in question is a 2000 f4 "ultima light".
the local bike shop wasn't much use other than informing me that i could've bought a new bike with the money i've spent on rebuilding this one having recently bought a new replacement fairing kit, new disk for rear, new clutch, new rectifier and stator but this bike was a birthday present from the wife.
Anyway i'm hoping i can call on your knowledge on these bikes as i've always been a zzr man in the past and this is my first cbr which i love riding but hate working on (Honda make everything so difficult)

Welcome to the forum, lets see some pics of where you are up to.
For a quality rebuild kit the following is recommended on this forum:
https://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Honda_CBR600_1995-2000.html
For the float valve I have found one here:

Yes, best to go with OEM parts whenver possible.

There's common issue with aftermarket issues with "carb kits". Jet sizes don't match factory OEM, even though numbers may match. Jet sizes don't even match between jets with same numbers in same kit.

Another problem with float-valves is amount of jiggle with bracket. Sometimes, there's too much, and sometimes there's too little. Which prevents valve from sealing on seat properly.

Thanks guys, I have found the offending piece of my jigsaw and will be cleaning up the original jets and putting them back in as they are in good overall condition just dirty I even found old leaves and debris under the slider rubbers when I stripped them down. My ultrasonic cleaner has done an amazing job on the carb bodies. I'll keep you updated on the results when I try to fire her up again. I must say this is an excellent forum and a credit to the cbr owners worldwide
