Buzzing on overrun

My bike has just started to buzz a lot, around 5 - 6k RPM, usually on overrun, but also a little if I'm sat riding steady around that rev range, only way to describe it is a ZZZZZZZZZ noise?

Is it the CCT? Had a new one 8000 miles ago, could it be knackered already?! The bike is recently serviced, New chain, pulls smoothly, and the buzz doesn't seem to affect anything, it's just annoying!

Cheers In advance for any advice!

If your new tensioner was OEM I would definitely get a manually adjusted one to replace that. It (the OEM) can indeed go bad in the short mileage you mentioned. It's a well known problem that's continued for years on end since the original Hurricane. Sounds like BB's in can..most likely the tensioner....but some food for thought. I also have a 96' Yamaha Yzf750sp. I spent about 5 yrs building her into my version of my dream machine and so i'm cruising around this past summer when I realze i'm hearing a buzzing that wasn't there before. Can't track it down, can hear it everytime I rev or at steady throttle. It goes on for a good month and drives me crazy. So I had ordered HID lights for her and when they arrived I took off the plastics to mount the ballasts and relay. So, there I am working on the lights and looking at the gauges and I found the rattle. The old girl still has analog gauges and so a speedo cable runs up to the back of the speedometer and there, where it's supposed to be tightly screwed is a very much unscrewed speedometer cable causing the buzzing lol

Yeah I found a manual APE look alike for £44 so I think I will try that!
It will slowly drive me nuts otherwise! Will have a look all over bike though for loose parts though. Cheers mate.

Was it the CCT? You basically described exactly what my bike has just started to do!

I haven't changed it yet, will be doing it soon, weather has been rubbish!
I'm pretty sure that is what is wrong with mine though.
Found this item on eBay 300829689605 should sort it!

Cool looks like im gonna need one too. In other posts people have recommended the APE cct which is a tenner more than the one your looking at but tbh they all look the same and are so simple how can they be any different!

Some how to's:

I think first link is manual cct and second is the auto... glad I saw these cos I was gonna remove tank airbox and throttle bodies.... from reading it looks like it just requires a fair amount of patience and an extendable magnet!

Thats a good write up. I did try to temporarily fix my CCT by putting a 30mm bolt in the place of the end bolt, I read that it can fix it, but mine still rattled, so I took it out. I managed to do that by just raising the tank from the front. I think I could of got to all bolts this way. We'll see. Lol. Cheers
