I just got my f4 and needed to get the front blinkers working. One didnt work and the other was missing.
I got some flush mount for the front and replaced the back with mini blinkers. The back turned out ok but on the front im not sure.
Now the back and the front stay lit up all the time. They do blink when turned on but stay lit when the blinking stops. Is this bad on the electrical system or is it suposed to do that?

 

They are fine, they work like running lights.

Check the wiring job...There are three wires at the blinker port. Green is the ground wire, the solid color is power, I believe orange on the left side, and then a wire with a stripe which was used for the running lights. This is no longer used in a single filament light, just cut it clean and wrap it with electrical tape to protect it from metal. Be sure the wires are correctly attached on all sides, if the striped wire is connected with the solid one it could cause both of these problems. Good luck.

 

The wiring and bulb systems are similar to cars...if your bulbs are malfunctioning...it's either a wiring problem or the bulb/bulb socket. Before tampering with the wiring, replace all of the bulbs and make sure you put the right ones (preferrably OEM or equivalent) in. Clean the socket of any corrosion you may have. There is a bulb socket grease made to keep connections corrosion/rust free. If you still have the problem, then try what Musichyp spoke about the wiring problem.

hey Musichyp, are you saying that the F4's front and rear OEM blinkers are double filament or single? I just bought an f4 with no working signals and wanna replace them with some flush mounts but not sure if they were double or single. Also anyone know why my brake lights dont function?

the original lights are double but can be replaced with universal flush mounts just be sure to wire correctly. As for the brakes it could be a number of different things....the electrical systems can get gobbed up with crap so be sure the connections are clean and the switches are working correctly. first things first though check the fuse, its simple and cause more problems for people than they know. Sometimes the simplist things get us. Its a simple wiring package so checking the curcuit is easy. there are a number of sites that will list the diagram for you. good luck

 

I just bought a 99 F4 with 18K on it and i'm having problems with the turn signals, i'm hoping someone who knows can help me fix it. My turn signals work when they flash, but my fronts have daytime lights on all the time and my back one's only come on when i signal. This doesn't seem right to me. Any ideas? I don't know much of anything about this bike so it could be as simple as a fuse, but i don't even know if there is a fuse? Thanks for the help.
