Default Bars not in line

Hey guys sorry if this is in the wrong section.
On my f4 I dropped it a while back and ever since when I ride I notice that my bars are not straight when riding.
So far I have cracked all the nuts on the triples and moved it abit it's hard to line up to be honest.

I know some ones going suggest ifs forkss are Bent. I can't see them being bent because the drop was at very slow speed.

Iv had the front wheel off and tried that. When I went to put that back on it wouldn't free wheel very well it was dirt if dragging on the brakes the only way it would was if I loosen the axle bolts to stupid levels.

I have taken off the clip ins and adjusted them. Uv even put the wheel between to post and tried moving them that way.
Is there anyone out there that could shed a little bit of light maybe am doing something wrong or should I take the forks out completely and check they defo arnt bent.
Thanks guys
Feel free to move if it's better suited somewhere else.

what do you mean by bars? the clip-ons, fork tubes or triple tree?

If its the clip-ons just adjust them to a comfortable angle and make sure you still have clearance when turning and none of the cables or wires are binding. Other than that I'm not sure what you mean.

See Section 13 - Honda factory service manual &/or Chapter 13 - Clymer manual. Clymer has more reference pics for front suspension & steering.

Your handlebar/clip-on (ea side) once mounted, should be stop-to-stop against the stop on the upper triple. This area is located at the upper pinch bolt of the triple. Is ea side stop-to-stop?

It is possible that you simply bent the clip-on. If you can't visually see this, you can measure it. If its bent, replace it.

There is no set impact/drop/crash standard by which forks can be bent. Sometimes they can take an amazing impact & still measure in spec. Other times, what seems to have been a "drop" like you describe, can knock them out of spec. If you are unsure if they are bent, you need to pull them & take them to shop to measure run-out. If the run-out measures in-spec, than your prob lies elsewhere, like a bend of the clip-on itself as mentioned above.

Your front suspension & steering are very critical. If you don't feel comfortable doing any of this work yourself, I recommend that you take it to you local shop & have it all checked out & repaired if necessary. Your safety is important.

These first 2 pics are when to me the bars are straight.

As you can see its way off i noticed that the right fork looked like it was slightly pushed forward.

Can anybody shed any light. the one thing i have not done is had the forks off.

You really need to remove the clip-ons, wheel & fender, & loosen the pinch bolts (top & bottom) on the triples & see if the forks can be aligned. If not, they're bent. To be sure tho, as I said above, you need to take them to the shop & have run-out checked to be sure.

Thanks for the response i have done that loosen the pinch bolts top and bottom removed clip ons took wheel off.
If they are bent can you bring them back inline all is it a case of a full front fork change.
Looking at it it seems the right hand fork when looking from the top is slightly forward the axle bolt for the front wheel goes in no problem thats why i thought it might not be the forks.
do you know how the forks get check what do thry do when they do a run out check.
Thank you

See the factory Honda service manual for how to check your fork run-out. If you don't have a copy, there are links to the online version of the manual here on the forum.

Its not difficult but you need the know-how & tools/equip for the job. I suggested taking it to the shop b/c they do this on a regular basis & can do it quickly & tell you exactly how much its out (should be inexpensive if you take the forks to them).

Its difficult in the pic to see which is bent but it does appear that one or both are bent..

If one/both are bent, replacement is preferred. F4/F4i forks are inexpensive & readily avail as used parts (F4i more so). Yes, you can use F4i forks on your F4. They are externally the same. There are minor interior dif but substitute quite well. I have a spare pair of F4i forks & use them on my F4 when I need to do service on my F4 forks.

Thank you very much for your advice.
i will remove the fork and get them checked out i didnt realise the f4i fitted on the f4 that give me some more options.
Dont mean to sound stupid here but can you just change that fork tube if thats the part thats bent or is it better to just change the lot.
Again thanks for your advice you like a god on here.
