one thing before you throw away the old cables, look carefully if you rerouted them correctly, according to the manual. the first chapter IIRC has the cables route drawings.
when I reinstalled mine I missed that and couldn't figure that out until I rechecked the routing.

 

ill have to check that when i get home i hope thats it this is pretty much the last thing before i can start to put the fairings back on and have it look like a bike again...
