Default Another q.. are f4 and f4i stator covers interchangeable?

I meant to ask that before. It's my stator cover that's cracked, not the crank case cover. I have an 00 f4, and the replacement cover i have is off an 01 f4i. I read that there is a difference in the clip? what is the 'clip'? thanks

There is a difference in the stator plug that plugs into the wiring harness. I'm pretty positive that the cover is interchangeable though. I put an f4i stator in an f4 once and just modified the plug.

I see my post got lost a few days ago... and we've moved to a new BB.

What I was asking/commenting on was that the F4i makes nearly 100 watts more charging power than the F4's 340 watts. What parts did you change, and did you get more charge?

I do not know from experience but I asked around some, and people told me that just adding the stator from the f4i would not increase the alternator output. You have to swap out both the rotor and the stator (but Im not sure that would work even... but hypothetically). Also, I learned a good way to save some wattage is to run HIDs instead (35w instead of 55 for the low beam). Just some thoughts...

I'll try and find a wrecked F4i for parts... steal the whole electrical system for a project.

Thanks.

I'm looking on eBay and see the see through cover, but its for 2003 and up. As I browse other covers, it shows that other covers fit F4 & F4i (same cover). So will a cover (only the cover) that fits and F4i, also fit an F4? I have an F4 but I like the see through look, wish I could find the one with LED's in it.
