Default About to purchase HID projectors

Okay so here goes I'm about to Purchase HID projectors. I have found two sets online. One set retails for 209 and has demon eyes and Angel eyes built into them. But the description does not state the wattage of bulb. Now the other set retails for $130, has exactly the same features as the more expensive unit, and the description states it has a 35 W bulb (6000 k), so my question is, has anyone here done the HID projector retrofits and if so what wattage bulb Did u use was it 35/45/55 Watt?

Can't fully help you, but HIDs are usually 35w no matter high or low beam.. There is a solenoid that redirects and re-aims the bulb to increase the brightness.

Cool

I just bought this and it's EPIC... intense white with a fantastic blue reflection everywhere in the glass... look fantastic and so bright... might be worth a punt before HID's?

I'm surprised those have blue in them as you usually don't start seeing the slightish hint of blue until around just over 5000k?

As for the OP's question, Most HID's are 35W as mentioned but there are 55W which are really not needed as the 35W are plenty bright.

If you post up links, we might be able to help you more...

Thx for the info so far guys, sorry for the late reply, I was not aware links were allowed but seeing as they are here were the 2 places I was considering.... 1st SPORTBIKE LITES HONDA CBR600F4 99-00 HID PROJECTOR CCFL HALO EYES KIT , but I'll be around 200 after shipping tx duties etc. 2nd motorcycle hid projector KT-MT3 , this one is considerably cheaper, this is 35w. They have a kt-mt5 and a kt-mt6 but I am unsure if I have enough clearance and whether it's worth it to try to squeeze the bigger hid in for just .2 of an inch. KTAuto would be around $100-110. Any opinions? Has anyone with a single headlight cbr such as mine actually done the hid projector retrofit? Or will I be the first with single headlight? I have seen lots with duel lights, just none with single versions.

OK, I have decided I am for surely gonna go with the KTAuto shop for either the KT-MT5 or the KT-MT6, bigger is better...lol. Now just gotta decide, 35w or 55w. Seeing as how i have seen people here indicate 35w I'm leaning towards that. I measured my headlight assembly and I have LOTS of room to play with. But like I have been saying 35watt or 55watt is the question, the site states that 55watt is 20% brighter, imo brighter is better, but can my bike handle the load is my biggest concern.

The main problem with 55W HID's are the extra heat they produce along with a very high start-up current. I believe they pull up to 6A each on start-up which could blow your fuse and if not it is alot of load on the wiring which could end up melting the harness.

If you were to go the 55W route make sure it comes with a harness that wires directly to the battery for start-up and then you will have less problems with pulling that much current through the small wires.

In my opinion, there is no need to do the 55W as yes they are 20% brighter then the 35W, The 35W (depending on the Kelvin rating) are about 300% brighter then stock.

Thx for the advise jeffjones, I really appreciate the response, so I have now ordered the KT-MT3 (35watt) version, figured I might as well also pick a bit smaller size to be 100% sure I don't run into space issues. I'd rather not cut up the deflector. I'll post pics when I have her all done up. Again, Thx for all the input from everyone, I truly appreciate all the help the forum has to offer. Till then, Ride Safe ...
