Angry 99 f4 problems, please help

basically ill start my bike up fine when i first go out to ride, ill ride for a little while and stop where ever im going. when i come back to start it up it'll start kind of normal. after maybe a minute or so the rpms will start dropping and sounds like it is struggling to stay on then it will cut off. only way i can keep it on is run start it than keep the rpm constantly above 3000 rpms,if not it cuts off. anybody have any ideas?

It could be a clogged idle jet in the carb.. but I'm not familiar with the usual issues on these bikes yet. I'm actually dealing with a strange problem on mine that I haven't diagnosed yet but I have experience with carbs. I'd wait for another member's opinion, but generally the idle jet is for low rpm's and if it runs like crap at low rpm's that is likely the culprit, do a full carb clean and see what happens. It's basically free just requires some work.

Same thing happened to my brother's 99 F4.... it was the battery. He could keep it going if he hammered the gas, but after that it would die. If you do buy a new battery, spend some extra money and buy a battery tender too... that'll keep it nice next winter.
