Default 2000 F4 with weird issue...

Sunday morning I so happen to hop on craigslist and came across a F4 for $800 bones... It was just posted so I called hte guy immediately... Long story short, I purchased the bike for $700. Spray painted black, with fairing damage, but 95% intact... Missing a few minor things, and no major damage. Anyway the guy told me that the issue he was having was in 2nd-4th gear. He told me that when he would give it alot of gas in those gears it would slip right back into neutral. I automaticly was thinking tranny forks.. but also didnt want to rule anything out just yet, Wekll I got the bike home and was trying to adjust the clutch... No luck so I drained the oil and removed the clutch plate to check the cluthes and springs. When I pulled it off I noticed something broken. The clutch lever (the large metal shifting pin that attaches to the clutch cable that rests on top of the clutch cover and goes into the clutch cover that engages and disengages the cluthes) here is a link.. its part no. 4 " http://www.bikebandit.com/assets/sch...a/HJ510015.gif " Well this part was broken inside of the clutch cover and as well as splitting. Nothing seemed to have made it into the engine. I wam wondering if replacing this part could be the answer to this issue of slipping out of gear. I had a Suzuki Katana that has this issue back in the day and it was the tranny forks, but by finding this broken part really makes me wonder that when under presure the clutch gives way knocking it through the grears. Any ideas....

unless you do the work yourself, or know someone who can hook you up, its gonna cost more to fix, then to get a new motor, you can get a motor shipped to your door for around $400 that work purfect, thats what is good about 600's, the motors in good condition are cheap, so if you blow a trans. or whe whole motor, its not a big deal, alot of people do not know that, on the other hand, the 1000cc motors go for around $1000 to $1600, hope you can get the trans. fixed, but a new motor is a easy no hastle fix, you would have a $1200 f4, thats a steal!
I just bought a builder f4 for $1100, and it needs all ferrings, and i had to buy a swing arm, because it was bent.
found abs plastic aftermarket ferring kit, comes with everything for $360, swing arm $27, and new tires $200 mich. pilot

$1687 to get my bike going
$1200 for you, you got a hell of a deal

Buy a low milage motor, then sell the motor you take out, or part it
sounds like you got the deal of the century!!

it looks like you found the posible problem. look on ebay for a used clutch cover and get that part for cheep rather than buying a new engine. you know whats broke just fix it. Engine swaping isnt very easy unless you have the proper tools and know how. if the engine runs good theres no need to replace it. if you are going to go through the trouble of taking out the motor you might as well get into the tranny and see if it needs fixing and fix it.
