2000 f4. problems.
i have recently bought a new ignition for my f4. on wiring harness two wires are reading 12v. other two are reading almost 0. i was told that 3 were supposed to read 12v? and the other was for pink wire? i checked voltage at ecu and it reads 11.7v. i was told it was supposed to read 9.5v? bike is turning over but just wont start.. all electrical, lights etc. are working just fine. fuel pump is priming and working well also. Ive been messing with bike for about 3 weeks now and still cannot figure out my problem? help plz

I have a new ignition for my cbr that has a red, green, black, and black w/ white stripe i need to wire to bike wiring. Bike wire colors are red, red w/ black stripe, pink, and blue w/ orange stripe. thx

i have fixed the ignition. bike sounds like it is ready to start but still wont start. help?

i just cleaned out the carbs, they were very dirty. bike still turns over but no fire. Battery is fully charged. All the electrical, lights etc. are working just fine. fuel pump is working, i have also bypassed the pump and ran fuel straight to carbs. bike still turning over but not firing. Not sure last time bike was running but last full inspection was in 2008. How would i check for spark? ethenol?

well i pretty much looked at a pic on google of a stock ignition and plugged which ones i thought were in the same position on the wiring harness. the lights and all the electrical still work tho? i just didnt wanna switch them up and blow something electrical. how should i check to see if they are plugged into the right place on the wiring harness?

i measured the voltage at the wiring harness from the ignition. 2 wires are at 12v and the other two are at almost 0. shouldnt 3 of the wired read 12v and the pink wire that goes to ecu read a lower voltage?

Can you say what each wire read? i.e. Red 12v, Black 12v, Black/white 12v, Green 11.7v. Thanks.
So far what I can gather is:
Ignition ------------ bike
Red --------------- Red (Battery)
Black ------------- Red/Black (lights and turn signal)
Black/White ------- Blue/Orange (fan)
Green ------------- Pink (safety wire)
If three wires are reading approx. the same with the fourth having a drop than I'm assuming that that is your "pink" wire, and they did not use the correct diode, or wired it incorrectly. I unfortunately know very little about the aftermarket ignitions. When I snapped my key in mine I bought OEM.
Edit: It should be noted that the pink wire is on the ignition side and it connects to a Yellow/Red Wire on the bike side of the harness. You need to find out which wire powers the rest. You could do a C̶o̶n̶t̶i̶u̶i̶t̶y̶ ̶T̶e̶s̶t̶ voltage measurement between the wires to find out which one will power all of the other wires. That will at least get you started.
Maybe someone like Madhattr can step in since he has a better understanding of wiring harnesses then me.

Section 19-13 of the workshop manual talks about testing the ignition switch
When the switch is ON it should join together the RED, RED/BLACK and BLUE/ORANGE wires.
If you can test which three wires are linked on your new switch when it is "ON" then the fourth wire will go to the pink on the bike.

I see on the other post you stated that the wire colors don't match up, I haven't looked at my ignition in a long time so I don't remember if they should but it may be possible you got a different ignition and might not have the same diode to make the bike run. It could also be possible that the diode in that ignition might not be good. I love how this diode was installed to prevent theft but it just complicates things for owners down the road.

All you are looking for is the three wires that are linked when the switch is in the ON position.
No 12v required so no blowing things up.

All 4 wires are connected when the ignition is on. So now that I think about it more doing a continuity test might not give you any more info than letting you know that the switch works properly. What you can do is connect the red wire with the ignition on and measure the voltage of the other wires, You wont fry anything if you just hook the red wire up, plus everything but the pink wire is safe behind fuses.
