Winter Project
So the ol F3 is in need of a little TLC. I've got a leak between the cases, rust on my frame and swing arm, and a shock that is shot. At the moment, a majority of the bike is in the attic. Only the frame and engine are in the garage.
I've started the process of servicing the shock. After getting a spring compressor, I removed the spring. Afterwards, I released the pressure (there wasn't any left, but necessary step) from the gas reservoir. At this point, I disconnected the reservoir from the hose. Then came the fun part, tearing down the reservoir.
I pushed in the end cap that I drilled the pressure release hole and popped out the clip. Getting the cap out of the cylinder was a bit of pain. I had to cut the end off with my dremel so that I could be a pair of channel locks on the cap and really work the cap out. Just so you all know, the cap gets stuck at the groove for the clip due to the o-ring. With a little wiggling, it'll come out.
Next was removing the bladder and last end cap. I removed the valve (13mm wrench) and slid the assembly down. There is another clip that has to be removed. At this point, the cap slides out with the bladder.
I'll post pics as I go. Here are a few pics of where things are at.
