Getting the idle screw back in can be a challenge. I hope these photos will help. I took them while my carbs were off for cleaning.

Thanks so much for the pictures. Looks like I'm going to have some fun getting that back in there. Oh well you live and learn. I'm going to go out right now and try to get that back in.

thanks again

So I'm an idiot. My choke was wide fully on so thanks daniel_depetro for bringing that to my attention. I for some reason thought that the position I had it in was the choke off position. Throttle response is so much better with the pipe on that I can't believe it. Not sure about the sound yet, it sounds kind of raspy but I guess that's part of owning a crotch rocket.

We all start somewhere, just glad it was an easily solved problem that is free to fix.

Now, to get that idle screw back in place...

Idle screw really wasn't bad at all to get back in. Just took a couple of minutes to get lined up correctly with the threads. Believe it or not I was a auto mechanic for four years, now I'm a heating and a/c tech. Never did work on any motorcycles though and I'm more of a fuel injection guy than carburetors. I just glanced at the choke, and thought it was off and I just put the pipe on so I thought it had something to do with hit. Can't wait for the weather to get better and go take this thing out for a ride.

As far as the tail fairing goes I found this one on

ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...hippingPayment

It matches my bike but I'm not sure if I should pay $30 shipped for a piece with a chunk missing off the back. here is a pic of the damage

Just talked the guy down to $20 shipped on that tail fairing. It's not perfect but is definitely better than what the bike has now. So I think i'm going to go ahead and buy it.

I have the red one that isnt broken for sale on page 2 of this thread.

I realize it doesn't match and is more expensive, but it isn't broken or cracked either.

Brand new ones are $135.00 shipped from Ron Ayers Motorsports.

Wish I had the money right now but it's easier to just get this piece that matches for only $20 and not have to deal with getting anything painted.

plenty of tail fairings around i wouldnt buy broken one..high shipping cost by seller on ebay is a way the seller doesnt have to pay ebay higher selling fee..(can add up to large seller)ignore shipping cost as a seperate thing and consider entire cost...
