This is a very good question that probably more of us like would like to know, especially me because I was about ready to start a thread on it after turning up northing in a search. When winter hits I plan to do this along with a lot of other maintenence things such as adjusting valves and the choke cable (mine works like crap).

I just finished rebuilding the carbs and you dont need to replace anything. Just a good cleaning will do the trick. make sure you remove the o rings and gaskets before you clean them so as not to ruine the rubber. if you dont you will probably need to replace the o rings and gaskets... thats it. i hope it helps some. it is a pretty ez job and only takes a few hours.

Well IMO since the bike is as old as it is, may be a good idea just to replace the o-rings and gaskets anyway...
