I liked using iridium plugs. they didn't do anything noticeable in terms of horsepower but they burned cleaner. I was able to keep them in for 16k miles (twice the suggested change interval of 8k miles). So I would just replace them when I checked my valves.

www.sparkplugs.com you can get the step up of stock plugs...the iridium ngks for like 4.26 a piece....way better than paying the 8 bux for a stock plug
