True. It has to be safe with the bike fully loaded.. to the max weight.

I am currently running the Metzler M1 in front and the M3 in the rear.

The M1 IMO is the stickiest tire for the street. The bad side is the rear tires wear out freakishly fast.
Using the M1 on the front lasts a long time and is super sticky so I will stay with that.
I installed the new M3 for longer life on the back.

I Have run the M3 and M1 set up on the track as well as the street.
The M3 in my opinion will meet all of the performance needs on the street and lasts a long time.

While on the track two guys that day in the race class passing me. One was Ti Howard; I don't think I would get near him even with race tires. Ti is a privateer and races in the top 10 of AMA.

What I am saying is I pushed the tire hard and it did well. I had a few rear tire slides while hitting the gas passing but it felt good and controlled.

On the street the M3 has perfomed well and I am very happy with the wear. I still am riding the tire and want to see how it performs over time. Many of the new tires seem to last longer but seem to lose thier grip at 50% - 75% of the tread wear. Well thats what I have found.

I like the M1 - M3 Combo
I would like to try the new dunlop Qual next set.

My .02

Love love love the conti road attacks

I've rode 208s, qualifiers, battleax's, mmm and I think that's it

Now I ride continental road attack tires stock size. The grip like a friggin hot glue stick. They warm as quickly as my buddies stock tires on his 1kRR and they grip just as well. I will not buy another tire, except the sport attacks and not the road attacks. Continental makes both road and street atacks and obviously for each purpose. I ride/riding twisties on tn/nc/wv/ga and it is the best tire I've ever ran

Highly recommend

I use BT014 on the front and Avon Azzaro on the rear. Avon is a real underrated company. heard good reviews on their venom models also

It's now 2014 and available tires have changed. My bike F3 came with brand new Pirelli Diablo's, they are very mediocre, take a while to heat up and lose grip easily when cold. They aren't that great when hot but are acceptable and barely worn after around a 1000 miles before I replaced them. They were 120/70 front and 160/60 rear.

I briefly had an old Dunlop D208 170/60/ on the rear, this slowed the steering but gave more stability in turns. It was really old and soon gripped worst than the Diablo so I switched back before...

Fitting a pair of used Metzeler racetechs straight off a race bike. 120/70 front with 180/55 rear. The profile is pointier than a normal road tire so the actual width is little more than the 170 was but the back sits higher. This pair of tires gives the fastest turn in, most grip and stability. Warm up is quick but cold grip although better than the Diablo's still requires some caution.

Comparing to tires I've had in the past the Diablo's remind me of Dunlop D207's (which I also quickly replaced) and the Racetechs are similar to D208rr when warm but not as good when cold. If I didn't get them free I would opt for Michelin Pilot Power 170 rear + 120 / 60 front as the bike needs help to turn quicker with wider more road bias rear.

I weigh 10 stone and go with 28 - 32 psi front and 30 - 34 rear depending on the tires and the weather.

I have a 95 and love my pilot power 3 for street/sport use but I did use the dunlop q2s and they were better than the powers with track but worse wet weather

You can run a 180 but you will have little contact patch on the center. Stick with stock 160 on my option, my mechanic told me the same when I wanted a bigger tire. If you are looking for more cornering contact patch go with a more racing oriented tire.

Just my option, its like a 240 series. You have straight traction but little cornering. Give some take some.
