Default transmission troubles...

so my bike worked fine yesterday, and this morning, then i went to lunch from work and it wouldn't go into neutral anymore... and shifts hard from first to second.... nothing has changed since yesterday though... then i went to downshift to third from fourth, pressed down felt it go into gear, and suddenly it sounded like ball bearing flying around in my bike. shifted to fourth, sounded fine, back to third and it did fine, i'm pretty confused ha ha. any ideas?

i also have trouble with mine (bought it that way). normally when youre in first and lightly lift up into neutral, mine wont go into neutral. it go's into 2nd, then i click down to go back into first and it gos into neutral. (im not intending to hi-jack the thread, im just hoping to learn something from this thread)

maybe something to do with the wrong weight oil? or oil level?

As far as the ball bearing noise i couldnt say without hearing it, hopefully not a synchro blowing up! WHen was the last time either of you changed your oil? Might be time do so, our bikes share the motor oil with the tranny so some new oil would be a good first step.

i had a similar problem with my bike not being able to go into neutral
and i changed the clutch freeplay (distance from it and the perch)
the shifting was much easier from then on, and i could hit neutral much easier.

that fixed it for me.
hope that helps.

Oh congrats though espelade, a cheaper and easier thing to fix than worst case scenario, tearing into the tranny!
