Exclamation thick oily antifreeze?

Hey guys i just picked up a 97 cbr600 (woohoo!) and its been pretty good to me. I just went to ride it today, and i realized it was overheating. For some reason the radiator fan didnt turn on. When I stopped the bike, a yellowy fluid was bubbling out of the antifreeze bottle. It looked like the same exact color. Its an oily fluid. Does anyone know what this could be? Could the bottle have started to melt? Where is this yellowish oil coming from? Any ideas would be totally helpful. Thanks!

I think automotive coolant is fine but i think i read a 50/50 mix with water is recomended. If the coolant in your bike still looks strange, maybe change it one more time, ride around for a bit and check it again. If its really oily again, maybe engine oil is getting in your coolant somehow?

Hate to suggest it but how sure are you the oily substance isn't in fact oil?

I believe, but can't say for certain, that its possible for oil to enter the cooling system at the water pump if the internal seals fail. I know for a fact it's possible for the bike to spew s shyte load of oil at the water pump if the external o-ring fails.

check the oil cooler. it happened to me also. except it was throwing out the yellowy liquid from the drain hoses. One of the o-rings in the oil cooler was torn and oil and coolant mixed up causing the bike to overheat. The fan didn't turn on also. Check it out and all you might need to do is replace the o-rings or you can find a used oil cooler on ebay for $40.

thanks for the replies! so i decided to flush the system again and get rid of all the oily stuff......refilled it with antifreeze that contains no silicates and is meant for aluminum radiators.....it seems to be fine but if it ends up getting oily again i wll def check out the oil cooler and water pump
