My bike has been sitting for bout yr.
I am having a hard time pulling my carbs off of my bike. Mainly just trying to find the easiest way to pull off and clean. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming your engine is still on the bike?

take a look at the hints/tips the people in the links provide. a must will be a very long phillips head to reach the clamps on the carb boots. those were a bitch. once loosened rock the carbs back and forth till they loosen then take them off.

also, take the idle and pilot jets out and give them a good clean.

hope this helps good luck.

Do you just mean that you have loosened up the rubber boot screws, but you still can't manage to pry the carbs off or is it some other problem? If they are just stuck, then it is just a matter of muscle and patience, they can be a pain in the butt sometimes and stick. You just need to rock them back n forth. I have even used a mini pry bar for a bit of leverage, just don't break anything.

in one of the articles it described the following: "From underneath the carbs, above the transmision, loosen each carb boot clamp at the engine side of the boot using a stubby phillips screw driver."

I'm stuck on this part. Hard time accessing the clamps to loosen. Any pics and ways to get in ?

the long phillips i don't have yet. but any more detailed techniques you used to get to the clamps or angles?

If you take off your gas tank, air box, and lower fairings, you should be able to easily get a stubby screw driver, or even a long one in there. Under the carbs are black rubber rings (aka boots). On these boots is a circular clamp with a phillips screw to tighten them. You need to loosen all 4 up and then rock the carbs off front to back.

Let me know if you are still having problems. If so, I will try to get you a pic in a few hours.

ok I missed removing the lower fairing I was working with just the upper side fairing, tank, airbox removed. I will try that.
