Tachometer Issue
So I'm stumped and cant seem to locate an answer anywhere. I'm rebuilding a 98 F3 and I just recently picked up a stock gauge cluster off eBay. It appears to be in good condition but there's one problem. When the key is turned to the on position, the tachometer instantly moves to 1900 RPM before the engine is started. I thought it might just be like that until it's running, but it seems that my actual RPM is always +1900 on the gauge. Is there a way to calibrate this if I take the gauges apart? Or is it just fried? Or maybe a problem somewhere else?? Thanks for the assistance and I hope everyone had a good turkey day!!
hey i had this same problem a couple months ago except with my speedo... when i turned the key it would read thirty miles per hour... at thirty it would read sixty,, etc...
I took off the gauges, and unscrewed everything until i could actually turn the needle back with my finger... i just turned it back to zero and it works again.

Thanks for the help! I pulled it apart and removed the needle stop. I then rotated the needle past its stopping point until it was zeroed when the key was turned to the on position. Now it idles right at 1400 rpm (cali bike). Once again, a CBRF member saved the day!
