swingarm bracing
This swingarm is eventually going on my 1981 CB900F but it is from a CBR600 F3 with the 17mm pivot bolt. This is a good mod for the CB-F bikes because the original 900 swimgarm was tubular steel. The CB1100F (similar to my bike) had a boxed swingarm like this but the CBR arms have a bigger box and are therefore stiffer. I am going with an F3 rear wheel so it will fit nice and snug once I shim and space the swingarm correctly.
Someone from my CB-F group is doing all the fabrication and TIG welding on this. This is an awesome upgrade for straight swingarms because it prevents the arms from bending when you corner. My setup is also going to include shock mounts because I have a twin shock setup to keep my bike a bit more period-correct.
This is before the side bracing was completed:
I'll get some more pics when it is finish and then when I mount it. If anyone is interested, this guy could probably make a few of these once mine is complete. This is the prototype so it is taking about 2-3 weeks because he has to tweek the design as he goes.
