Are starter motors from different years interchangeable?

Are starter motors from different years interchangeable?

I'm pretty sure my starter is dead. There are plenty on Ebay but only one for a 1997 F3 and naturally it's the most expensive. The F2 starter looks identical but has a different part number. Also the 95-96 F3 starters have different part #'s than the 97-98 models. Will these other starters work for me or do I need one for my specific year? Thanks.

I think you're pretty much stuck with a 97-98 since they changed the part number. What makes you think that your starter is dead ?

Yep,you can use any year starter.Honda updated the part number,they didn't change the part.I have an F2 starter on my F3 racebike engine,and you wouldn't know unless I told you : )
