Default spark plugs, never done this before

ok so i have a 96 f3 and the plugs need changed but i have never done this before and i really dont want to screw anything up. it looks from my clymer and stephygee manual that theyre under these red rubber tube things. are they inside the sleeve or down in the hole. seems like they were down in the hole from where i felt the threading on something. how do i get them out? im sorry guys, im new to this but want to learn

Yes they are down the hole, if you have a tool kit with your bike you should have a spark plug tool which makes them easy to get out. Make sure you put the HT leads in the right order when you re-fit them.

you get them out with a spark plug socket. Number your plug wires 1-4 so you know where the hell they go.

spin it backwards until it clicks in. then turn it in. DO NOT crank on it to try to get it to start to thread!!!

you don't want to force it in (big mistake) if you thread it you are looking at some major work to re-thread the hole.
Be careful

Good luck

if he does *cross*thread it in...i dont even think he will be able to just rethread the hole. He would need a new head because the pressure in the cylinder wont hold up to what metal is left to hold the plug in, it would just get shot out...so...dont crossthread unless you want to buy a new head for your engine... quite a pretty penny right there...

Yes and no...the head would be fixable but you cant just rethread it yourself with a tap...you would need to do a helicoil job...a huge pain in the ***! Far better off to just take it slow and steady and never force it!!
