Default Spark Plug Question

I've worked on my share of bikes but this one has me puzzled. You guys may laugh at me but how in the heck do I get to the plugs themselves? I pulled the boots and the spark plugs are within the wires themselves....can anyone chip in? This is my first honda bike never seen a set up like this.

-Thanks

The spark plugs are still in there I guess, the wires connect to the top of them.
So when you pop the wire off, you have a (pretty deep) hole with a SP in it.
Unless you mean the plugs were on the wires when you pulled them, that would be a bad thing
To get the plugs out, follow some of these instructions:
https://cbrforum.com/m_26144/tm.htm
https://cbrforum.com/m_353733/tm.htm

In short: use the spark plug socket if you have the tools that came with the bike.

Good luck, it's tight in there, but you'll get the job done finally.

Be sure to use some compressed air to clean out the deep holes prior to removing the old plugs. A lot of crap still makes it way past the boots over time and you dont want to be fighting that when threading in your new plugs.

Oh, anti-seze is an awesome investment also!

When I have the boots out am I supposted to be able to feel the spark plug down inside? I reached as far as I could and all I could feel was the walls of the block. Perhaps their really deep. And with the boots pulled out, are they supposted to feel hard towards the top half? Almost like theres something in there?

-Thanks, and i'll keep in mind using compressed air prior to removing the plugs.

You never really feel the plugs ... with that in mind, be sure to remember that you will have a hell of a time getting the plug socket off the new plugs after they are torqued down if that rubber keeper is tight(the rubber in the socket used to hold the plug)

I ran into that issue and took most my time workin the damn socket off the plugs by coaxing it off just right with the extension and bending my wrist in ways I only use in the bed with the woman

If it feels like its getting caught, what i found out is of course use an extension, along with a THIN WALL spark plug socket, these are really hard to find around here(nc), so what we do is just take the plug puller to a machine shop to have ground thinner (on the outside).

look at the distance between the collar of the plug wire and the end that connects to the plug.
if the distance is shorter than any of your fingers, you could feel it I guess.
But unless you're alien, you can't stick a finger down there and touch it.
And why do you want to "finger" it anyway? Trust us, the spark plugs really are down there.

I know what you're thinking, but no, the spark plugs are not inside your boots [sm=alcoholic.gif]
The boots are part of the electrical system, there's both metal and plastic there.
I don't think there's anything wrong with them.

Thanks guys that makes a ton of sense. Their just located pretty deep. Any idea where I can get the proper tools to remove them? I hate having someone do the work for me...doesn't feel the same. For SP removal I just have the basic lawn mower ones which most likely will not work.
