Default Soaking Carb in Chemdip

This is in reference to a 98 F3 if it matters.

I have read, and are following, the many carb rebuild write-ups, but have never seen this concern stated. I have my individual carbs stripped down, except for the butterfly and the spring actuator for the butterfly. I have seen some carb write ups where they say to put the carb into chemdip to soak. I just want to know if in fact there are no rubber parts for this part of the carb. I mean is it safe to place the carb in the chemdip with the butterfly actuator in place? Perhaps it is all metal parts, but I did not know if there may be grease in there that the chemdip could get to and wash out.

Thanks for your help!

Here is what I do to most of my Vintage carbs full of dirt and grease. Go to a $1(dollar) store and get a pot with a lid. They are cheap and hopefully you will never reuse this for cooking. Got to a grocery store and get Lemon Juice(cheap, under $3 for a quart). Mix 1/5 lemon juice to water mixture and boil the water, than gently add the carbs for 25 minutes. It will have a caustic smell. Then after allotted time, remove carbs and rinse them. Now if you can blow all excess water with an airhose. Then let dry and rebuild. This will get them looking like new.
If you do not think this works, search : lemon juice carb degreaser

Yamaha carb dip. Get two bottles and mix 1/2 with water. Remove bowls, jets, diaphragms, needles etc and place them in labeled containers for each carb. Put dip in each container. It is actually good for the rubber parts. I would remove the TPS and sit it aside (be sure not to lose the small key between the TPS and the carb) Put carb assembly in another container and leave in dip for 1-3 days. Remove, and blow all passages with compressed air and clean any residue. Reassemble and voila.

Thanks for the input. I already have the chemdip ready to go, I just did not know if I should be worried about putting the stripped carb (except for the butterfly actuator, with spring) in the dip. After doing some more digging I am thinking there is no concern.

I would not put any plastic or rubber in the chem dip. You will need to fully disassemble the carbs. That is why I love the Yamaha dip.

You're fine. The butterfly's are not designed to be removable.
