Default slips into neutral

I have a 96 f3. Every now and then when I am gunning it, I shift from first to second, and it slips into neutral. It makes me look like a moron, plus I'm sure it's not great for the bike. Does anyone know of anything that might be worn out on my bike that would cause this? Thanks

Mine used to do that also. Your just not shifting far enough for it to stay in gear.

Try driving a Suzuki for a while and you’ll realize what slipping out of gear really means
Seriously… This is usually caused by a chain with to much slack on it, then it whiplashes and causes the gearbox to jump out of or skip a gear. – Set the tension on you’re chain

You’re chain could also be stretched unevenly which causes it to tug on the sprockets and give U the same effect.(Usually caused by regular wheelies and burnouts ) To check for this put the bike in neutral and put it on a stand or get someone to lift it for U, turn the rear wheal and check if the tension on the chain stays constant as U turn it – In this case I recommend replacing the sprockets and chain because it can damage you’re gearbox

It is a common problem on f3's. Mine does it to. Even pro riders that were testing them when they first came out had the same problem.

Same thing happens to me when I plug it into 2'nd without using the clutch. When I use the clutch, however, between 1'st and 2'nd gear it doesn't seem to happen. I'm happy to see that it's a common problem and not just my bike only.

chances are the dogs on the side of the gears are rounded off and sometimes misses a positive engagement. Factory makes a shift kit with a heavier detent spring andsshift arm, cost like 90 buks. granted this is just a bandaid fix for the problem. The only way to rectify the prob, forever is to remove the tranny shafts and have them under cut. wouldn't recommend it unless you have good skills.
