Default Shifting into second gear..

Ok, so I was being bad today, and rode without my helmet through town. While riding I noticed every time I shift into second gear it "Clicks" a lot harder than any other gear. Just wondering if this is normal? I never really noticed it with my helmet on, but without it, it seems to be pretty loud. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Oh, and also sometimes when riding, and shifting into second it doesn't "Catch", and I go into neutral. If I do it once, I realize it, and next time I just shift it harder, and it doesn't do it. Normal?? Thanks again!

The shift from first to second is always like that, on my F3 and my buddies R6. You do have to shift it harder to second to get past neutral.

I'm sure newer transmissions aren't as sensitive as ours.

The thing I have found over the years is that oil makes a HUGE difference to the performance of the transmission. If I ever have problems shifting, I change the oil and it is solved.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking about changing my oil anyway. They supposedly changed it when I got it, but I don't know for sure, and I've put about 800 miles on it. So I might go ahead, and do that. Thanks again guys.

My F3 is the same, my older brother had an F3 that did it as well lol. It can be pretty irritating having it not not go into gear. Maybe when I change the oil I'll try a differn't brand to see if it helps.

+1.
new oil + new filter = smoother shift.

I was missing some 2nd gear shifts so I adjusted my shifter so that I wouldnt have to lift my toes as high to shift. I was also considering going to a moto gp shift pattern but havent gotten around to it.

+1 for lucas oil for cars I had a audi a4 with noisy lifters and it immeadetly quieted them down.
