Default RE: Thanks a lot

I'd say go with a new/used motor. My freind has a 96' yzf and he's replaced the motor twice. He got the used motors for like 200 or so and did the work himself. The motors themselves were good, but those bikes tend to have the 2nd gear go boom for fun and its cheaper to just replace the whole thing. I hope everything works out for you. If I were in your possition I'd take the irresponsible childish route and go mess with the guy that screwed me over. But thats not very good and just gets you in trouble.

Good luck!

F4i motor won't work .Motor won't line up for mounting, and you'll have to put in all the complimentary parts (Throttle bodies, harness, cdi, etc etc).

Another F3 motor is a good way to handle this.

If you have the motor out, take it to a local shop and get them to look at it.If he used heavier oil than he was supposed to,he knew what he was doing.Bad karma is heading his way.Hopefully it'll hit him hard. This is the same as stealing,IMO.

Another option is to rebuild it yourself.

if you want an idea of whats happening inside the motor, go to blackstone-labs.com

Have them send you out a free sample kit and get a sample of the oil thats in it and send it to them. They will tell you whats in it and what wieght it is. Lemme see if I can find a scan of my truck analysis on there. It costs like $22 for an analysis. Tells you everything thats happening inside the motor.

the next day i let it warm up for about 10min , came outside and it was knocking (sound like rod).
Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to help much in terms of the engine repairs. However, you probably shouldn't let your bike idle for 10 whole minutes. It should only need 2-3 mins to warm up, and then ride off. I hope this was a bit of an exaggeration.

Whats the prob with letting the bike idle that long? I agree it's not really necessary but what is the risk?

To me idling at 1200 rpm for 10 minutes complared to me beating it all day at 12000rpms would be no risk at all...

Jesus guys, simmer down. He's a newb thats only taken it to ONE shop. Most places are horrible with diagnosing problems on bikes in general and some will quote you outrageous prices because they just plain dont want to work on them.

If its a geat condition F3 then you can easily part it out for near or above what you paid for it, if you're smart.

Start with the obvious, run higher octain, check the CCT. If it still knocks, take it to someone that specializes in honda motorcycles and pay to have them do a thorough diagnostic.

Perhaps he left the choke on and it was idling at 4500 rpm, running rich the whole time? Probably not the best thing to do
